SVETLANA GAIDA


Mrs. Svetlana Gaida, the director and leading teacher at the Krakow Professional Ballet Academy.

Svetlana Gaida was born at Gormelis in Byelorus.

She is: An artist, a teacher, a choreographer as well as a stage director.

An originator in the cultural and artistic fields.

Founder and owner of the Krakow Ballet Culture Foundation and the Krakow Professional Ballet Academy.

Originator and organiser of international enterprises such as International Meetings of the pupils of the professional Ballet schools and academies, the so called “ballet summer”, Krakow Ballet Impressions, and others.

Chairperson of the Krakow Ballet Culture Foundation.

 

In 1961 she became a student at the Ballet school in Minsk (whilst a student she danced leading parts in “Nut-cracker suite” and “Pachita”

In 1969 having graduated from the State Ballet School in Minsk (where her teacher was N. Młodzińska- a pupil of A.Waganowa), in her debut at the Wilno National Opera she danced as Mascha in the Nut Cracker Suite.

She impressed by her charm and grace, standing out due to her excellent dance technique and artistic talent.

She danced leading parts in amongst others “Giselle”, Sleeping Princess”, Swan Lake”, Esmeralda”, “Anna Karenina”. She adored dancing to the youngest auditorium e.g. in “Cinderella” and “Snow white”. She also frequently toured abroad.

 

  From 1973 she begun teaching and choreographing at the Wilno State Ballet School.
From 1978 she was a teacher and choreographer in artistic and sporting gymnastics. She choreographed many shows for television and also in the leading concert halls. She engaged with the ballet soloists and was a teacher in the master classes at the National Opera in Wilno.
In 1985 as a ballet soloist she begun studies at the State Theatre Institute (GITIS) in Moscow.
In 1990 she graduated with honours.
Following her many years on the stage, she engaged solely in working as a teacher and choreographer.
From 1991 she worked at the State Ballet School in Gdansk teaching both classical and distinctive dancing as well as the method of teaching in these. This encapsulated work for both diploma and competition studies. At the same time she was the chief methodologist at the school.  At the same time she was a teacher and choreographer at the State Baltic Opera in Gdansk

 

In 1997 became the director. Teacher and choreographer at the Krakow Opera.

In 1999 she founded the private Krakow Professional Ballet Academy.

That year the Childrens Ballet Theatre was founded opening with “Snow white in dance and seven scenes” with music by B. Pawlowski


Dream of its founder is the starting of professional ballet in Krakow—a Theatre of Ballet.
